Information about our Overdraft Services
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. We have standard overdraft services that may come with your account and we also offer Overdraft Protection.
Standard Overdraft Practices
At KeyBank’s discretion for business checking accounts, we do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
- Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
- Automatic bill payments
- ATM transactions
- Everyday debit card transactions (purchases made with your debit card on a day-to-day basis*).
We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay every type of transaction. When an overdraft is paid, standard overdraft fees may be assessed.
Overdraft Protection allows you to link a KeyBank deposit account or a KeyBank Business Cash Reserve Credit* to your checking account as backup protection to help pay overdraft transactions that may occur. This can provide you with the peace of mind in knowing that you will avoid the inconvenience of an accidental overdraft.
